Not For The Faint of Heart

So not that anyone actually reads my blog but my friends (I'm no superstar DJ moe rex) but I was out of town. I now return to my regularly scheduled AWESOME BLOGGING. Here's some mp3s I've been feeling lately.

Desperate Guys by The Faint from their forthcoming album "Wet From Birth"

This song reminds me of a particular person. Regardless, The Faint are back and they just keeping better. 3:05, what sound like real strings, lots of bleepy edits. The groove on this shit, if this doesn't get you hyped up you should make sure someone didn't slip you a mickey. A good vocal performance and hilarious lyrics :

In the evening I saw you / You were warming the bass up /
Your hair covered your face up /
I was acting indifferent at the merch booth /
Putting on makeup

The rest of the album is this good too. Definitely a "strong buy" if you this is your sort of thing.

Screening Phone Calls by edIT from his 2004 album Crying Over Pros For No Reason

Apparently edIT is some guy from Los Angeles. This album is on Planet Mu Records which is the label of a guy from mu-ziq. That's all I know about him, but jesus his album is pretty damn amazing. If you thought Prefuse 73 wasn't glitchy enough, your ship has come in. What's weird is that he's also somehow more soulful. An album of this can fatigue the ear, but each track has its own feel. Next level shit.

UPDATE: Some whore mp3 search engine or something linked to this post, so the download link doesn't work anymore. Thanks, guys!

Damn.

that edIT track is fucking awesome. It is totally souful, and the glitches are so clean.

I agree that I couldn't listen to it all, but it's exactly what I needed to hear right now (which is about 3:30, pacific time, in sunny southern California). I'll have to look edIT up and see if he does any shows locally.

Yeah, the rest of the album hits that mix pretty consistently. To paraphrase The Church of the Subgenius :

"Music so powerful you ACTUALLY USE LESS."

Soulful is imo an accurate description. Even more so than Prefuse which is weird because it's so much more chopped. In the running for top ten of 2004 for certain. A real pick-me-up.. :D

BTW, when something is more than awesome, it's properly described as "awesomer" ... ;)

Good stuff. I like the Faint song more than a lot of stuff on their last album. Poor ol' desperate guys.

And the edIT track was, um, awsomer, or whatever. Yeah. I liked the way it tricked me into thinking my mp3 player was screwing up (maybe it was--I never checked). Will look into hearing more by him.

lol @ "a guy from mu-ziq" - it's just one guy.

Uh oh.. I hope they don't revoke my pretentious shoegazer card!

I know all these comments were posted a long time ago, but I'd really really really appreciate it if somebody somewhere could send me the full edIT album.

I'm willing to trade it for anything you like.
